Sally Black is an internationly known Navajo basker weaver. She's the daughter of Mary Holiday Black, who's also held in high regard in basket making. She was born and still lives in Monument Valley, Utah/Arizona. She travels to Texas to harvest her reeds, from the sumac tree, which are prepped before they are ready for dyeing and weaving. Sally continues to participate in the Santa Fe Indian Market and the Heard Museum Indian Market. She was a participant in the 2006 Smithsonian Folklife Festival.
